What is your skin trying to tell you?

What is your skin trying to tell you?

When most people think of skin problems, things like acne and rashes come to mind.

But what most people don’t realize is that things going on with your skin aren’t typically confined to just the skin—they’re coming from somewhere deeper inside.

In addition to keeping you “all put together,” your skin protects your heart, liver, kidneys and intestinal tract, and that includes giving these vital organs a helping hand if they are struggling.

For example, if your organs of detox (liver and kidneys) are overtaxed, your skin steps in to help by releasing toxins through increased sweat, rashes or abscesses.

So if you’ve been sweating a lot lately and have nasty BO, it’s coming from inside of you and all of the deodorants in the world won’t change that.

What is yours trying to tell YOU?

Here are some other common skin issues and what they may be trying to tell you about your innards:

Age spots, acne, and uneven skin texture: These are signs of poor liver function

Wrinkles, dry skin, and sagging skin: These indicate free radicals are damaging your collagen and skin elasticity

Puffy eyes, dark circles, and crusty lids: These suggest fluid buildup and possible poor kidney function

Skin sores, rashes, and bumps:  These are signs of acid waste buildup in your body, possibly due to inadequate digestion

Oily, scaly, itchy, chapped or red skin: These suggest an overload of toxins in your body

What’s next?

First and foremost, if you have any concerns about your skin or vital organs, see a doctor to rule out any serious issues.

But the good news is overtaxed organs, toxic overload, and the resulting skin problems can be corrected by supporting organ health, helping your body eliminate existing toxins AND to stop putting them in, to begin with!

Here are some ways you can help your skin—from the inside out:

Start with your diet.  Nothing will make you more toxic than processed “stuff,” fast food and junk food.  Plus sugar and refined carbs literally age your skin, so avoid those as much as possible too.  Keep it real—lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, meats, poultry, wild-caught fish, eggs, real butter, nuts, and seeds.  Be sure to eat lots of onions and garlic, as they are helpful for liver function.

Support sound digestion.  The digestive process is one of the primary ways your body eliminates toxic wastes.  If your digestion is poor, wastes can instead be reabsorbed back into circulation through the intestinal tract (a process known as autointoxication)—making you even MORE toxic.  Plus poor protein digestion can trigger skin problems.

You can help your digestion along in two ways:

1. Avoid combining animal proteins and starches in the same meal, as this combination is very taxing on your system and is a leading cause of poor digestion.  Instead, pair proteins OR starches with non-starchy vegetables.  I bet you’ll see a difference almost immediately!

2. Supplement with a complete digestive enzyme formula like Digestizol Max.  Digestizol Max’s 15 plant-based enzymes will give your body a helpful boost in breaking down all your foods and pave the way for more thorough digestion.

Beverages count too.  Drink eight 8-oz. glasses of filtered water a day, and start each day drinking a glass of room temperature water with a splash of fresh lemon juice to flush out your liver.  Herbal teas are also helpful to flush out the kidneys.  Limit alcohol and avoid soda at ALL COST.  Also avoid other sweetened drinks including flavored waters, sports drinks, energy drinks, juice drinks, lemonades, lattes and sweetened tea beverages.

Get enough antioxidants.  Fresh fruits and vegetables are great sources of antioxidants, but to make sure you have enough of these crucial free-radical fighters, Super Core multi-vitamin and mineral formula can pinch-hit where your diet may be lacking.  Super Core contains the crucial antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E, plus selenium and zinc, alpha-lipoic acid, and the well-studied antioxidant carotenoids lutein, lycopene and zeaxanthin.

Try essential oils.  Essential oils that are supportive of skin health include lavender, geranium, sandalwood and neroli.  Apply a few drops and rub onto the skin.

Try massage therapy.  Massage therapy can help improve skin tone by increasing circulation.

Help your skin to look its best AND support those precious internal organs of yours!  Your body will thank you many times over.

To your health,

Sherry Brescia
