Bet you didn’t know this is #3 cause of death in the US
You might find this rather unsettling, but the #3 cause of death in the US behind heart disease and cancer is… Getting medical care! That’s right. According to a study by researchers at Johns Hopkins Medicine, medical errors kill at least 250,000 Americans every year and should be considered the third leading cause of death.

Food isn’t food anymore—and you’re paying the price!
I have a confession to make. I’m an avid people watcher, especially in grocery stores. Don’t let that creep you out—as a nutrition coach, I need to observe people’s food habits so I have an idea as to the extent of the diet atrocities I may be helping people with.
Is your gallbladder really necessary?
I’m fired up today, so look out. I just learned that a distant relative was in the hospital recently, and while he was having exploratory surgery, the doctor removed his gallbladder.
When he awoke from the anesthesia the doctor explained that his gallbladder appeared to be inflamed, so he just removed it because “it’s not really necessary anyway and you’ll be fine without it.”

These deadly drugs killed another person—who’s next?
An announcement was recently made by the family of Tom Petty (one of my favorite musicians) that his untimely death was the result of an “accidental overdose” of pain medications, including the opioid Fentanyl. Apparently Tom was suffering from a fractured hip and knee problems which understandably caused a tremendous amount of pain.
You may recall that the musician Prince’s death was also caused by a fatal dose of doctor-prescribed Fentanyl. All I can say is, “Who’s next?”
