On this solemn Good Friday, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the real meaning of Easter.
Not the colored eggs, chocolate bunnies or jellybeans.
But rather what Easter really represents.
And even if you are not religious or Easter is not a holiday you celebrate, I think we all can use a few reminders from the true spirit of Easter:
- It’s never too late to make positive changes in your health or life. You are worth it.
- Forgive others. Remember forgiveness is for you—not for them.
- Take a moment to say something nice to someone. You just might make their day.
- Everyone has their crosses to bear, even if it seems like they have an easy life. You have no idea what they may be dealing with, so be kind.
- Remember where you came from and never think you are better than others.
- Extend a helpful gesture to someone without expecting anything in return.
- No matter how tough your life may be at times, always believe that things will get better.
- Try to focus on the good in people.
- Remember wrong is wrong, even if you don’t get caught.
- Make the best of what you’ve got and be thankful. There is always someone who has it worse than you.
- Your worth is not measured by how much money you have, the size of your house or how fast your car is. Nothing you have will go with you when you leave this world. Your worth is measured by the love and kindness you’ve given to others.
May the peace and love of the risen Christ be with you and yours, today and always.
To your health,
Sherry Brescia
