Happy Thanksgiving, some good news & a recipe

Before I start with today’s message, I wanted to FINALLY share the good news that Gastro BeCalm Blend will be on its way to us this Friday (11/29) and Digestizol Max is coming a week from Friday (12/6)!

I will send an announcement email and post on the website when they are physically back in stock and we begin accepting orders!

I want to thank you for your patience in this difficult time while we waited on backordered ingredients. We never compromise on our formulas, so when these extended backorders happen, we must simply wait them out.

Now for today’s message:

I just wanted to take a break from my food prepping here and wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

While we should strive to do this all year long, on Thanksgiving it’s especially important to reflect upon what is good in our lives and be thankful for our blessings.

I was doing exactly that this morning and I would like to share them with you:

The Top 10 Things I Am Grateful For

10- My desire to learn. I am not one to blindly accept things at face value and always question everything, research and learn.

9- Having the chance to help others. Whether it’s through my writings, my nutritional counseling, or teaching martial arts, there’s nothing better in the world than being able to help others.

8- My faith. In a day and age when sadly religion can be a taboo subject, I am not afraid to say that I am proud of my Christian faith, and it has helped me through several trying times.

7- The goodness around me. Sadly, the media tend to only report what is bad, shocking, divisive or cruel in this world, so many times it may be hard to see the goodness, but it’s there.

6- Our country. Regardless of its faults, we still live in the greatest country in the world, and we are free because of the incredible sacrifices made by our brave service men and women.

5- Dark chocolate and red wine. No explanation necessary.

4- My parents. As a World War II Navy veteran, my father instilled in me a fighting spirit, a strong drive and a never-give-up attitude. My mom taught me selflessness, unconditional love and to always be gracious, even when others around you are not.

3- My state of health and fitness. While my lifestyle choices have certainly helped this cause, I also have been blessed to not have limitations or other barriers that would impact my health or level of fitness.

2- YOU! I am grateful for all of you because you are the reason I am doing what I do.

1- My loved ones. My beautiful children Danielle and Mickey and son-in-law Brian, you mean the world to me. Of course, my family also includes my three feline babies too—Max, Timmy and Callie—as well as my siblings and their spouses!

A delicious recipe

As promised, here is a recipe that is perfect for Thanksgiving dessert—Sweet Potato Pie!

While most people are quite familiar with pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie is very similar, yet richer and creamier than traditional pumpkin pie.

Try it—I guarantee you’ll love it!

Sweet Potato Pie

1 single homemade or store-bought pie crust, unbaked

Filling:

1/3 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
3/4 cup evaporated milk
2 cups mashed sweet potatoes or yams
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 425°.

Roll out pie crust on a floured surface and place in 9” pie pan.

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs; mix well. Add milk, sweet potatoes, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt; mix well. Pour into pie shell.

Bake at 425° for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° and bake 35-40 minutes longer or until a knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool thoroughly before serving. Top with fresh whipped cream if desired.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving and may God bless you and yours.

To your health,

Sherry Brescia
