Do you get enough of these longevity nutrients?

Today is my birthday and while the thought of turning 62 can be a bit unsettling, I am thankful for all of my incredible blessings—my family, my cats, my God, the martial arts, and of course, great health!

I love being able to say that I’m in my 60s, take no medications, easily maintain my weight, have boatloads of energy and can still run and do full-contact sparring…and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon!

Sadly, many others are not so blessed, especially in the area of health.

What makes this worse is that in our society, poor health is not only tolerated but almost expected as we age!

Nothing could be farther from the truth!

On the contrary, our bodies were designed to achieve and maintain good health—but many factors can undermine your body’s innate ability to be healthy, and instead lead to sickness, disease and dying way before your time.

But the good news is when you support your body’s efforts, you dramatically improve your chances of living ALL of your days free of pain and disease well into your golden years!

And one of the most important things you can do is…

Get enough of the “longevity nutrients”!

While ALL nutrients play a crucial role in your body, research conducted by Dr. Bruce Ames of the Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute in Oakland, CA has contended that there are actually two distinct kinds of nutrients—survival nutrients and longevity nutrients.

Survival nutrients, as their name implies, support your body’s basic processes of survival and reproduction.

On the other hand, longevity nutrients are the nutrients which are aimed at encouraging the body’s efforts to remain healthy and free of disease and live for an extended period of time!

The key superstars

Although the researchers identified 30 nutrients that help sustain longevity, the key vitamin and mineral superstars are: vitamin K, vitamin D, magnesium, and selenium.

The researchers stated that these nutrients play many essential roles in the body, including repairing DNA, maintaining cardiovascular health, supporting the immune system and preventing cellular damage due to oxidative stress.

Dr. Ames explained, "The prevention of the degenerative diseases of aging is a different science than curing disease: it will involve expertise in metabolism, nutrition and biochemistry…"

Amen! Finally, someone who wants to focus on true prevention and not just disease management.

The study concluded by stating, “In conclusion, in addition to keeping physically fit, the low-hanging fruit in prolonging a healthy aging lies in optimizing V/M (vitamin and mineral) intake.”

More helpful compounds

In addition to the longevity nutrients, Dr. Ames and his crew identified other helpful compounds and phytonutrients that although are not currently considered as "vitamins," they fit in with the concept of "longevity nutrients" as described in their review.

These include lutein, zeaxanthin, and lycopene.

Is your body getting enough?

Now the next logical question is: Are you getting enough of these longevity nutrients?

Well, if you have anything that resembles a typical modern diet, trust me, you’re lacking somewhere. It’s a given.

The heavily processed foods that dominate our diets today are positively anemic in terms of nutritional quality.

Plus, you also have the added challenge of all of the artificial preservatives, chemicals, coloring agents, flavor and texture enhancers, unhealthy fats, refined carbs, bioengineered ingredients and GMOs undermining your body’s ability to create and maintain health.

Also working against us is the fact that our food is simply not as nutritious as it used to be due to bioengineering of crops and poor soil quality.

Cover your bases!

To ensure that your body has what it needs not just for today but for the “long haul,” supplementation is the best way to ensure you have all bases covered!

Our very own outstanding Super Core multi-vitamin and mineral formula provides health-supporting doses of the longevity nutrients vitamin D, vitamin K, magnesium and selenium (as well as an array of other vitamins and minerals too!).

Plus, it also includes the helpful compounds lutein, zeaxanthin and lycopene identified by the researchers!

Whoa, Nelly!

Now, just because you can easily supplement and load up your body with longevity vitamins, that is not a green light to eat garbage!

No supplement in the WORLD can undo the harmful effects of a poor diet.

So do your precious body a favor. Feed it what it needs to survive and thrive—fresh vegetables and fruits, meats, poultry and eggs (preferably organic), wild-caught fish, healthy fats like real butter, olive oil and coconut oil, nuts and seeds.

Now you’re on a REAL path to a long, healthy, disease-free life!

I can’t think of anything more important.

To your health,

Sherry Brescia
