A close friend recently reported to me that her doctor was concerned that her blood pressure was slightly elevated. He was quick to recommend medication, but my friend said, “I think if I just lose some weight, I’ll be fine,” so the doctor agreed to let her try. This is where it gets juicy.

Here’s a very common and frustrating experience that is familiar to many people:

I talk to droves of people about diet, weight loss and health, and it’s abundantly clear to me that the average person doesn’t have a clue about what they should be eating. Instead they are the victims of terrible diet advice by professionals and lies by food companies! It’s hard to believe some of this garbage is still being regurgitated (even by doctors and nutritionists!) but since it is still out there, I will set the record straight on these six pieces of worthless advice:
