Your better health is just 4 simple steps away!

In addition to being my birth month, August is also National Wellness Month.

While that sounds very nice and virtuous, I’m sorry, but I don’t see a lot of “wellness” going on around me.

I observe people everywhere I go, and more often than not, I see vast numbers of folks that are overweight, struggling to walk and/or “waddling,” while in obvious pain or physical discomfort, laboring to breathe, have unhealthy looking skin, using a walker or cane, or just generally looking sickly.

And the most frustrating thing is that so much of this suffering that I see in others is ENTIRELY PREVENTABLE!

Am I talking about you?

If you identified with my descriptions above, listen up.

Because it’s time for YOU to choose health and wellness…because if you don’t, illness will be happy to choose you.

And I don’t want that to happen to you!

Now the good news is that better health is very achievable—even for you!

Note that you don’t even have to make significant changes all at once! Baby steps in the right direction can add up and make a significant difference.

As the ancient saying goes, “A journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step.”

Here are four very effective steps you can take in the direction of better health:

Step 1: Go green

If your only vegetables of late have been fries, ketchup and onion rings, it’s time to work in some real stuff, my friend.

Commit to eating just one tossed salad a day, even if your version of “salad” is iceberg lettuce with dressing. It’s a start.

Plus, you can roast many vegetables and make an easy, delicious side dish. Brussels sprouts, asparagus, carrots, broccoli and zucchini all work well. Just drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper and roast at 400° until crisp-tender. Use a cast iron pan if you’ve got one.

Note that you can also get a grill basket and grill your veggies! That’s one of my faves.

If you’re pressed for time, you can even prepare canned or frozen vegetables and dress them up with butter, herbs like basil, rosemary or oregano, grated cheese, a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and honey, lemon zest or pesto.

Also, opt for coleslaw, a side salad or the vegetable of the day when dining out, instead of fries, mac and cheese or pasta for side dishes.

Step 2: Take a step (or 2 or 3)

Yes, I mean exercise.

If you don’t engage in some form of exercise, my 3 cats will sing an opera at the Met before you achieve better health.

But exercise doesn’t have to be drudgery, and you don’t need to join a gym—even taking a walk is helpful!

You can also take a dance or yoga class, swim, get some home equipment like a treadmill, or use a DVD program.

That’s what inspired me to start my martial arts training, by the way. I did Billy Blanks’ Tae-Bo workouts in my living room for 4 years and then decided to try karate…and now 21 years later I’m a 4th degree black belt in karate, plus two years ago started training in mixed martial arts and will test for my black belt in that discipline next year.

Step 3: Cover all bases

If your diet history has been less than stellar, then chances are good you may be running short on a variety of nutrients.

Unfortunately, every disease in existence has its roots in one or more nutrient deficiencies.

So, if your diet isn’t quite what it should be yet, or you just want to make sure all your bases are covered, then our Super Core multi-vitamin and mineral formula is your ticket!

Super Core provides a health-supportive dose of a variety of essential vitamins and minerals, plus a blend of natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatories which further support your fight against disease.

Step 4: Curb inflammation

While there are many reasons for our sickly states of health, a significant underlying cause is chronic inflammation. According to the CDC, chronic inflammatory conditions are responsible for at least 7 out of 10 deaths in the US each year.

Plus being in a state of inflammation in general makes it more difficult for your body to fight illness and use and absorb nutrients!

So, curbing inflammation is crucial if you want anything that resembles great health, and nothing beats Nature’s perfect anti-inflammatory--omega-3 essential fatty acids.

Unfortunately, the average person gets very few of these in their diets. Our food supply contains merely a fraction of the omega-3 fats that it used to, and the amount that you would get from an occasional fish dinner is far below what your body needs to effectively control inflammation.

To make sure your body maintains a health-supporting level of omega-3 EFAs, supplementation with a pure pharmaceutical-grade fish oil formula like VitalMega-3 is crucial.

VitalMega-3 provides a soothing 1,200 mg of anti-inflammatory omega-3 fats in every 2-capsule dose, including the Superstars EPA and DHA—that are critical for your brain and cardiovascular health.

Note that foods can stir up inflammation too!

So, strive to minimize or avoid these 10 foods, which are the WORST inflammation triggers:

  1. Sugar (including HFCS)
  2. Refined carbs (anything made with white flour and/or sugar)
  3. Vegetable oils
  4. MSG (monosodium glutamate)
  5. Factory farmed meats
  6. Margarine
  7. Soda
  8. Processed foods
  9. Gluten
  10. Artificial sweeteners

Now you are armed with truly effective strategies to help make a healthier you!

Please do it for yourself. Now.

You’ll never regret it.

To your health,

Sherry Brescia
