It’s a FACT—glyphosate causes cancer

In case you haven’t heard, the chemical giant Monsanto (the maker of RoundUp weed killer) was found guilty of covering up the scientific evidence that showed the main ingredient in their star product (glyphosate) causes cancer.

They were slapped with a $250 million fine, plus $39 million in damages to a former school groundskeeper who (successfully) asserted that the glyphosate in RoundUp caused his terminal cancer.

Now the floodgates are opening!  There are presently about 8,000 other glyphosate-related lawsuits filed against Monsanto, and certainly more to follow.

So, what does this mean to you?

Quite a bit actually, because…

Glyphosate is EVERYWHERE

Glyphosate was first introduced in the US market in 1974, and since then its use has increased over 250-fold.  Nearly 5 billion pounds of it are currently sprayed on farmlands around the world every single year!

It is also used in the process of desiccating grains, legumes and beans, preparing them for harvesting.  And if you believe there must be a system in place that magically removes the glyphosate from these foods before they appear on your store shelf, you couldn’t be more wrong.

As a matter of fact, glyphosate has been found in alarming amounts in a whole slew of products including:

Breakfast cereals: Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios, Wheaties, Corn Flakes, Raisin Bran, Kashi Organic Promise, Quaker Oats, Special K and Frosted Flakes

Snack Chips and Crackers: Ritz, Triscuits, Goldfish Crackers, Sun Chips, Stacy’s Pita Chips, Fritos, Doritos and Cheez-its

Cookies and Snack Cakes: Kashi Soft-Baked Cookies, Annie’s Gluten-free Cookies, Oreos, Double-Stuff Oreos, Little Debbie Oatmeal Crème Pies and Lucy’s Gluten-free Oatmeal Cookies

In addition, glyphosate has also been detected in many vaccines.

Organic doesn’t always mean you’re safe

It used to be that choosing organic grain products was a way to avoid glyphosate, but unfortunately that is not the case anymore.  Organic grains are becoming contaminated too.

As sad as this is, it’s not surprising.  Glyphosate is in the air we breathe, and since it’s water soluble, it’s in our streams, rivers, lakes and oceans too.

It would nearly impossible to “shield” organic crops from this chemical onslaught coming from every direction.

The many ways glyphosate destroys your health

Now the world knows that glyphosate does, in fact, cause cancer, but its wrath doesn’t stop there.

Glyphosate disrupts your gut microbiome’s ability to function, attacking your friendly intestinal flora (which houses 70-80 percent of your immune system).

This allows dangerous microbes to flourish and overcome your beneficial bacteria.  At that point, you become a candidate for any number of viruses, infections and diseases because you are lacking the protection of your immune system.

Glyphosate also leeches essential minerals from your body including iron, cobalt and manganese, and interferes with your body’s use of certain amino acids.  This can reduce your levels of important neurotransmitters and folate.

It can impair the functioning of your pituitary gland, which in turn can disrupt its release of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), thereby leading to hypothyroidism (low functioning thyroid).

Plus, glyphosate has been linked to DNA damage, premature births, birth defects and ADHD.

It can also destroy the finger-like villi in your intestinal wall and reduce your body’s ability to absorb nutrients.

In addition, it is now suspected that many people who thought they had a gluten sensitivity may be suffering a reaction to glyphosate instead!

Keep it away from you!

Here’s how you can help minimize your exposure to deadly glyphosate and its harmful impact on your health:

Avoid processed foods and grains

Glyphosate has been found extensively in processed foods of all kinds, so the more you stick to real foods and avoid packaged foods and soda, the better.

In addition, as I mentioned earlier, organic grains are not safe any longer either, so it’s better to say no to the snack chips, even if they’re organic.

Buy organic produce, meat and dairy as much as possible

People who eat organic food were found to have an 80 percent lower level of glyphosate in their bodies.

So, try to buy as much organic meat, milk and produce as possible.

Take advantage of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs and local organic farms.  Many small farms are being bullied out of business by factory farms or are struggling financially, so they need your help and support!

Heal your gut microbiome

Since glyphosate is EVERYWHERE, chances are excellent your gut microbiome has already taken a significant hit from it.

In addition to a healthy diet of real foods, supplementation with a top-quality probiotic like Super Shield is a MUST to help your friendly gut bacteria bounce back and provide their sickness and disease-fighting protection.

Contrary to what you might think, your friendly microbes are not “permanent residents”—they only “vacation” inside of you for up to 12 days.  So it’s crucial to consistently help repopulate these healthful good guys so they can in turn protect YOU!

And Super Shield’s full-spectrum blend of 13 strains of potent, feisty, well-studied bacteria are up to this important challenge!

Other ways to support gut health

Your gut also loves fermented foods like kefir, sauerkraut and kimchi, so stock up on those as well.

Bone broths are very healing to the gut, so pay a visit to your butcher, grab yourself some bones, pop them in a stock pot with water and veggies and simmer away!

Use antibiotics only when absolutely necessary and be sure to be diligent about taking your Super Shield when you’re on a course of antibiotics.  (Just be sure to separate the two by at least 2 hours.)

Acid reducers also impact gut health.  If heartburn is your regular companion, it may be the result of low digestive enzymes.  A complete enzyme formula like Digestizol Max can naturally help pave the way for better digestion and less heartburn!

It may seem like an impossible battle fighting glyphosate, but you can make a big difference and protect your precious health by healing your gut.

To your health,

Sherry Brescia

  • Thank you for this enlightening research and article. I have been asking about the corn these days when i buy mostly at the farmer’s mkts. Will round-up be taken off the markets soon? I thought they use it on our lawns in our townhouses.
